The Best Tablet PC – And The Best For Whiteboarding

If you’re an “in-the-trenches” salesperson going into battle against fierce competition, you’ll need a tough, rugged Tablet PC that you can open up at a moment’s notice with your customer at lunch and that you won’t mind knocking over onto the floor as you rush to pick up the check.

In our experience, the Lenovo (IBM) line of tablets is superior to other brands we’ve tested, especially for whiteboarding – whether in person or remotely over webinar.

If you’re going to use your tablet to whiteboard your solutions and services wherever you are – on a plane, in a cab, or in a hotel lobby – you’re going to be constantly opening, closing and swiveling the tablet lid.  There will also be times when you’ll need to carry it outside of your laptop bag, in which case you’ll spill all kinds of liquid and food on it, as well as drop it or have it stepped on in airplanes or slammed shut by angry flight attendants.

And most importantly, you’ll want a matte screen as opposed to a glossy one.  This way your customers can actually see what you are drawing at an angle and not be bothered by any glare.

Not only is Lenovo one of the only brands to make a matte screen, their machines are by far the most rugged and durable that we’ve tried.  Other brands have that “plasticky” feel – especially the HP machines.  Some of the other machines we’ve tested also go “nighty-night” on us for no reason and we can’t get them out of REM sleep, even by changing the power management settings.  Lenovo machines have no such problems – they’re “fully caffeinated”.

Surprisingly, the Lenovo Tablets’ durability doesn’t come at the expense of increased weight.  And Lenovo tablets have some of the longest-lasting extended batteries out there – around five hours on a full charge.

There are plenty of reviews that put Lenovo out in front, and you’d be surprised to find that the prices are some of the lowest on the market.

Before I upgraded to my Lenovo X200, I had a Lenovo x60.  This machine lasted more than two years and looks as though it survived the Battle of the Bulge.

The bottom line – if you want a durable, light-weight and LONG-LASTING machine that will fire up every time (maybe not so fast with all those Windows services running), then Lenovo is the brand for you.
